Three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning R&B and neo-soul singer and songwriter Jill Scott was inducted into the Billboard R&B Hall of Fame after appearing as a panellist in one of the magazine’s Billboard House talks, that focused on specific artists, held on 9 September at New York’s luxurious Ludlow House.
The award was presented to the singer at the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players 2026 event later that evening by the magazine’s senior charts and data analyst, Trevor Anderson.

Tour Wraps in South Arica
Scott recently completed the US leg of her To Whom This May Concern World 2026 Tour, which wraps up in South Africa later this year: 07 November at SunBet Arena in Pretoria and 11 November at GrandWest Arena in Cape Town. Book at showtime.co.za and ticketmaster.co.za.
Scott was emotional when she found out about her induction, saying, “[I felt] shock, gratefulness, excitement, mostly shock. I don’t take these things for granted; it’s still a shock to me that anybody knows, loves and appreciates my music.”
The singer was also thrilled to be honoured alongside friends and collaborators The Roots (2026 Hip-Hop Hall of Fame honorees), with whom she co-wrote the band’s 1999 hit “You Got Me”. During her Billboard House appearance, she recalled her experiences, saying “I remember us being on the road together. We’re finally adults. We were adults then, but it felt like we were children. They opened their doors and let me find out about what touring meant, and from them, I learned what I didn’t want, and I learned what I wanted.”

To Whom This May Concern, released in February 2026, is Jill Scott’s first studio album in over a decade. It features guest appearances by Tierra Whack, Trombone Shorty, JID, Too $hort and Ab-Soul and debuted in the top 10 of seven different Billboard charts, including No. 6 on Independent Albums and No. 7 on Top Album Sales. “Pressha,” one of the album’s standout singles, also became Scott’s first Adult R&B Airplay chart-topper in nearly 13 years.

This will be Jill Scott’s fourth visit to South Africa after shows in Johannesburg in 2013 and 2024 and a Durban date in 2017.
