From Paper to Possibilities Departure 1
Willowbridge was buzzing!
Long before the clock struck 8am, voices were already filling the room. It was a joyful mix of excitement, anticipation and curiosity about what the day ahead would bring.
Warm coffee, friendly conversations and the soothing sounds of Hillsong created a welcoming atmosphere at the popular Koffi Terapi as delegates gathered ahead of the Badisa Conference and AGM 2026.
The theme, From Paper to Possibilities set the tone for a day focused on purpose, connection, innovation and turning ideas into meaningful action.

About the Organization
Badisa is one of South Africa’s largest and most prominent social services organisations. As a faith-based non-profit organisation (NPO), Badisa provides professional welfare services to people in need, regardless of age, gender, race or religion.
Established in 2003 following the merger of the social services departments of the Dutch Reformed Church (Western Cape) and the Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa (Cape Region)/ Badisa has grown into an organisation with a significant footprint in South African communities.
Today the organization delivers a wide range of services through more than 140 programmes and branches, including:
- Child and Family Care: Services include child protection, foster care, adoption and early childhood development.
- Elderly Care: Badisa manages a number of residential care facilities and service centres supporting senior citizens.
- Services for People with Disabilities: Residential care and support services are provided to people living with disabilities.
- Substance Abuse Services: Treatment and support programmes assist individuals and families affected by substance abuse.
While Badisa is primarily active in the Western Cape, the organisation also operates programmes in parts of the Northern Cape and Eastern Cape.

On Stage: Inspiration, Insight and Entertainment
The conference featured a line-up of familiar names from the entertainment, media and business sectors, adding energy and inspiration to an already vibrant programme.
Actor, comedy magician and television personality Charles Tertiens served as Master of Ceremonies. His lively personality and entertaining approach kept delegates engaged and brought plenty of laughter to the room.
Radio presenter, journalist and speaker Liomee Vosloo delivered a powerful and deeply personal message. Drawing at times from her own experiences and driven by her faith, she shared an inspirational message that resonated with the audience.
Ilana Steyn: Turning Experience into Insight
She describes herself as an introvert, but when Ilana Steyn took to the stage, people listened.
As Managing Director of Company Partners, and with more than 20 years of experience in South African business compliance, Steyn brought a wealth of knowledge and practical insight to the conversation.
Her message highlighted the importance of understanding your value, embracing change and remaining relevant in an increasingly complex business environment.
A discussion facilitated by Charles Tertiens explored working with the media and navigating artificial intelligence (AI). The conversation included Ilana Steyn, Liomee Vosloo, Adrie Jurgensen and Danie de Beer, offering delegates an opportunity to consider how technology and AI are changing the way organisations communicate and operate.
Early B Brings the Energy
After an insightful programme, it was time for some more in-flight entertainment.
Early B proved to be a highlight for many fans in the audience. The popular Afrikaans rapper shared not only his music but also an inspiring story of humility, perseverance and his deep respect for his parents.
After performing three uplifting songs and chatting to Charles Tertiens, Early B dashed off to celebrate his mother’s birthday – a fitting end to a performance filled with warmth and positive energy.
A Morning of Purpose, Connection and Possibility
The first part of the Badisa Conference and AGM 2026 was a morning well spent.
From reflecting on personal purpose and navigating the journey from connection to action, to exploring individual value in an increasingly AI-driven world, the conference created space for meaningful conversations and new perspectives.
The “From Paper to Possibilities” theme came alive through a combination of learning, networking, entertainment and engagement.
And, of course, there were great goodie bags and giveaways to add to the experience!
For Badisa, the conference demonstrated that social impact is not only about the services an organisation provides. It is also about people, purpose, relationships, innovation and the courage to turn possibilities into action.
