Ward Committee members from Greater Hermanus Wards 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12 and 13 were recognised last week for their service to their communities.
Certificates of appreciation were handed to members who served during the 2021–2026 Ward Committee cycle and who attended more than 50% of Ward Committee meetings during the 2025/26 financial year.
Overstrand Executive Mayor, Alderman Archie Klaas, assisted with the handovers, together with Ntombi Mtholo, Samantha Lucas and the respective Ward Councillors:
- Ward 3: Ald Kari Brice
- Ward 4: Cllr Ronald Nutt
- Ward 5: Cllr Bongiwe Nombula
- Ward 6: Cllr Vuyisani Bandeza
- Ward 7: Cllr Hybré Lombard
- Ward 8: Ald Arnie Africa
- Ward 12: Cllr Masibongwe Sihlahla
- Ward 13: Cllr Charmaine Resandt
The handovers were not formal Ward Committee meetings, but rather a ceremony to thank members for their time, service and contribution to their communities.
Mayor Klaas said the Municipality is preparing for the establishment of new Ward Committees in 2027 and encouraged residents to get involved when the call for nominations is announced.
“Don’t leave it to others. Ward Committee elections are your chance to have a say in how your area is run. You know your community best. Be part of choosing Ward Committee members who understand and care about local issues,” he added.
