What if a loyalty programme rewarded your passions instead of your spending?
KFC has launched KFC Rewards, a new loyalty programme that moves beyond traditional points to reward customers with access to experiences; from concert tickets and gaming drops to sneaker releases and VIP events; alongside free meals. It’s a fresh take on loyalty, built around customers’ interests rather than just their transactions.
KFC Rewards is a loyalty programme built around your interests and engagement, not simply how much you spend. Members complete missions on the KFC app to unlock free KFC meals and access to rewards and experiences across music, gaming, fashion and entertainment. Find out more at https://order.kfc.co.za/loyalty-rewards.
How do I join KFC Rewards?
Open the KFC app, tap the Rewards tab and select Join now. Membership is free and gives members access to exclusive deals, secret menus, personalised missions and other member-only perks.
Does KFC Rewards cost anything?
No. Joining KFC Rewards is free. Members simply download or update the KFC app, join through the Rewards tab and start completing missions. Normal data and purchase costs may apply.
Is this replacing the existing KFC app?
No. KFC Rewards is built into the existing KFC app. Members can still use the app to order food, access promotions and find their nearest KFC restaurant. KFC Rewards adds a new rewards experience through a dedicated Rewards tab.
HOW MISSIONS WORK
How do missions work?
Each month, members receive three simple, personalised missions in the KFC app. For example, members may be asked to add their date of birth to their profile, order a KFC Crunch Master and place two KFC orders during the month. Complete all three missions and members can choose one of four KFC meal rewards. Missions and rewards are personalised using information such as profile, preferences and previous order activity.
What if I don’t complete a mission in time?
Monthly missions must be completed before the deadline shown in the KFC app. If members do not complete all three missions in time, they will expire and they will not unlock that month’s meal reward. A new set of personalised missions will be available the following month.
What other rewards can I unlock?
In addition to monthly meal rewards, members can access Special Missions. These are limited-edition reward drops released once a month, on the 11th at 11:00. These missions give members the chance to unlock sought-after rewards and experiences across music, gaming, fashion and sports. Rewards may include concert tickets, artist collaborations, festival access, gaming consoles, exclusive event experiences, limited-edition sneakers and merchandise drops. Special Missions are available for a limited time and may have limited quantities, so members should check the KFC app on the 11th of every month to see what has dropped.
How often are new rewards added?
Members receive a new set of personalised missions every month, along with a new selection of KFC meal rewards. Completing all three missions unlocks a choice from that month’s available meal rewards. Special Missions are released once a month, on the 11th at 11:00. These limited drops feature rewards and experiences across music, gaming, fashion and sports, and are available for a limited time or while stocks last.
REDEEMING REWARDS
Can I use rewards on the Kiosk?
Yes. Members can simply sign in at the Kiosk to access their rewards dashboard, and they’ll be able to use their rewards while they order.
Can I share rewards with friends and family?
Yes. Selected rewards may be shared with friends or family. The sharing options and any applicable conditions will be displayed in the KFC app.
How does Add Hope integration work?
Members may have the option to contribute the value of selected rewards to Add Hope, KFC’s initiative that helps provide meals to children in need across South Africa. The available contribution options and applicable terms will be displayed in the KFC app.
PROGRAMME DESIGN
Who is KFC Rewards designed for?
KFC Rewards is designed for KFC customers who want more from a loyalty programme than traditional points and discounts. It brings together a love of KFC with interests across music, gaming, fashion and sports, offering members rewards that feel relevant to them.
Why connect KFC to music, sports, gaming and fashion?
These are the obsessions that drive engagement. Rather than attracting customers through discounts and points, KFC Rewards celebrates the things members are already passionate about, including KFC meals. That makes KFC a gateway to culture.
What makes KFC Rewards different from other loyalty programmes?
Traditional loyalty programmes reward spend with points that members accumulate and redeem for discounts. KFC Rewards operates on a different principle: loyalty should be measured by obsession, not spend. Members complete personalised missions to unlock concrete, cultural rewards across music, gaming, fashion and sports. These are rewards members actively want, not abstract points with limited redemption value.
Why is the programme launching with Special Missions on the 11th at 11:00?
The 11th at 11:00 (a nod to KFC’s Secret Recipe of 11 herbs and spices) release creates a scheduled moment when members know new rewards are available. It builds anticipation and creates a cultural moment around the drops. The limited-time, limited-quantity nature of these offerings maintains their value and desirability.
STRATEGIC CONTEXT
What is the strategic thinking behind KFC Rewards?
KFC Rewards reflects a shift in how today’s audiences expect brands to engage with them. These audiences don’t want invisible points they’ll never redeem. They want access. They want to feel part of culture. They want rewards that celebrate who they are. KFC Rewards delivers on those expectations by connecting customers’ passion for KFC with their other obsessions.
How does KFC Rewards recognise that customers are multi-dimensional?
Most loyalty programmes treat food choices separately from everything else in customers’ lives. KFC Rewards acknowledges that you’re not just a KFC customer. You’re a gamer who loves KFC, a fashion fundi who orders Zinger Wings, a music lover with late-night cravings, a sports fan with a crush on Krushers. The programme creates pathways for all those identities to interact. Your meal obsession unlocks access to your other obsessions.
What does “loyalty measured by obsession, not spend” mean?
Traditional loyalty programmes measure loyalty by how much you spend. You buy more, accumulate more points, receive better rewards. KFC Rewards measures loyalty by engagement and interest. Members who complete missions aligned with their passions unlock rewards, regardless of total spend. The programme recognises that a member who orders occasionally but loves gaming might be more engaged with gaming rewards than a member who orders frequently but doesn’t care about culture or experiences.
COMMUNITY AND IMPACT
Why does KFC Rewards integrate with Add Hope?
The programme integrates giving into the reward experience because impact matters just as much as access. Members can share rewards with family and friends, or contribute the value of selected rewards to Add Hope. This transforms rewards from individual benefits into opportunities for community contribution.
What is Add Hope?
Add Hope is KFC’s initiative supporting children in need across South Africa by feeding them nutritious meals. Members have the option to contribute the value of selected rewards to Add Hope, helping provide meals to hungry children.
