Ready, Set, Grow! – Expert advice, practical guidance and community support take centre stage at new Cape Town parent event
CAPE TOWN – The journey into parenthood is filled with excitement, anticipation and, for many new parents, plenty of uncertainty. A new Cape Town event aims to help parents navigate those early stages with greater confidence by bringing together some of South Africa’s leading maternal and infant specialists.
Ready, Set, Grow!, a premium educational and networking morning for expectant and new parents, has officially opened ticket sales through Quicket.
Designed to bridge the gap between clinical expertise and community support, the event will provide parents with practical, evidence-based information on some of the issues they are most likely to encounter during pregnancy, infancy and the early stages of raising a child.
From infant sleep and nutrition to sensory development, neurodevelopment and attachment, the morning will offer parents an opportunity to access professional advice in a warm and supportive environment.
Bringing specialists and parents together
One of the key highlights of Ready, Set, Grow! will be an interactive live panel discussion featuring four specialist teams and professionals working in the maternal, infant and child-development space.
Erica Lötter of MomsLifeline will address infant sleep from a biological perspective. Her discussion will include practical considerations around creating a nursery environment that supports rest, as well as developing a sustainable routine structure for both babies and parents.
Naomi Jordaan and Jeanine Schwartz of NeuroBloom will explore infant neurodevelopment and early sensory processing, while highlighting the importance of secure attachment and bonding during the critical early stages of a child’s development.
Nutrition will also be an important part of the conversation. Natasha MacDonald of NutriPaed will offer evidence-based guidance on paediatric nutrition milestones, early milk requirements and approaches to introducing food and navigating weaning without unnecessary stress.
Jennifer Spiro, Occupational Therapist and Co-Founder of nurtureOne, will provide insight into sensory milestones and the importance of establishing gentle, age-appropriate daily rhythms.
Supporting parents beyond the textbook
While there is no shortage of parenting information available online, knowing which advice to trust can be challenging for new parents.
Ready, Set, Grow! aims to address this information overload by placing qualified professionals directly in conversation with parents.
The event will provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions, gain practical knowledge and better understand their baby’s development, while also connecting with other parents going through similar experiences.
For expectant parents, the morning offers an opportunity to prepare for the transition into parenthood. For those who have already welcomed a baby, it provides a space to gain reassurance, learn from specialists and explore practical solutions to some of the everyday challenges of early parenthood.
