Tristan Roberts has claimed his third IBC Men’s World Title in Spain, adding 2026 to his previous victories in 2019 and 2022.

Onrus Bodyboarder Made History

Gran Canaria is a top destination on the international bodyboarding circuit, and it has once again been the setting for Tristan’s world title victory.

He also made history in 2014 when he became the first bodyboarder to win both the Pro Junior World Title and the Men’s World Championship.

Overstrand Executive Mayor, Alderman Archie Klaas, congratulated Tristan, describing him as a great ambassador for South Africa, Hermanus, Onrus and the entire Overstrand.

Tristan has always remained proud of his Onrus roots and the waves that helped shape his career.

Special Moment for Tristan

The Mayor added that this year’s victory was made even more special by Tristan’s mother, Susan, who secretly flew to Gran Canaria to watch her son claim the world title in person for the first time.

“What a special moment for Tristan, his family and friends! His mom has supported him since childhood, and to have her there to share in his third world title is something he will never forget.

“Tristan, you have made South Africa and the Overstrand proud. On behalf of Overstrand Municipality and our community, congratulations. We celebrate this achievement and all the hard work that has gone into it with you!”
