Two women have died and 28 people were injured in a serious collision on the N7 near Dunoon, Cape Town, on Thursday morning.

The crash, involving two taxis and a truck, was reported on the N7 southbound near the Malibongwe turn-off shortly after 8.20am. Emergency services rushed to the scene, while the collision caused significant traffic delays in the area.

According to SAPS, the two women, aged between 35 and 40, died at the scene from their injuries. Approximately 28 people, including both taxi drivers, sustained serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to various medical facilities across the Cape Metropole.

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following allegations that one of the taxis was travelling against traffic on the shoulder of the N7.
