The appointment of Her Royal Highness Princess Eurika Mogane Mandated as South Africa’s Official National Convenor for African Union #Egumeni Dialogue has marked an historical development.

For decades, the discourse surrounding gender equality in South Africa has been framed through a lens of binary conflict: a progressive, rights-based Constitution on one side, and an inherently patriarchal system of customary law and traditional leadership on the other.

Appointment a landmark milestone

PRETORIA&JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — In a landmark milestone for South Africa’s constitutional gender machinery and continental socioeconomic integration, Her Royal Highness Princess Eurika Mogane has been officially appointed as the Official National Convenor: South Africa for the prestigious 2nd #Egumeni Dialogue. Commissioner HRH Princess Eurika Mogane was appointed following a rigorous and competitive continental selection process conducted under the auspices of the African Union CommissioHn (AUC).

In a powerful convergence of ancestral legacy and modern executive leadership, Her Royal Highness Princess (Kgadi) Eurika Mogane has been announced as a recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in Community Empowerment at the 15th Annual South African Heroines Awards (SAHA15). This induction is being hailed as a historic moment, not only for the awards but for the very definition of royal leadership in the country.

Community leader

Appointed in her multifaceted capacity as a Community Leader, Activist, Philanthropist, Multi-Award-Winning Entrepreneur, and National Commissioner of South Africa’s Commission for Gender Equality (CGE), Princess Eurika Mogane is formally mandated to spearhead South Africa’s national consultative, policy, and advocacy track. Her leadership directly anchors the central continental theme: “Building a Resilient Africa through Accelerated Women Financial and Economic Inclusion.”

“Lasting gender transformation is impossible without uncompromising economic justice and financial sovereignty for women across our continent. Serving as South Africa’s National Convenor for the 2nd #Egumeni Dialogue is not merely an honor; it is an active operational mandate. We must ensure that the lived economic realities of women on the ground—especially emerging entrepreneurs, women in rural economies, and informal traders who anchor our communities—are directly integrated into continental policy texts and measurable financial architecture.”

Inaugurated in 2025, the #Egumeni Dialogue is a premier continental platform established under the African Union’s Women, Gender and Youth Directorate (WGYD), convened in strategic collaboration with the World Bank Group and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ / German Cooperation). The initiative operates as a structured institutional mechanism dedicated to high-level policy formulation, multilateral cooperation, and direct action aimed at dismantling systemic financial, legal, and regulatory barriers restricting women across Africa.
